Sory to suggest that you keep stuff like this in your home, but the only thing you need to buy would be the sliver and the chlorophyll.
ONce you do, it will be on hand for a couple of years. I use it to cure sinus infections. THere are many kinds of bacteria that live in the sinuses, and this gets rid of all the bad ones!.This is the only thing that really helped me --- my Dr. told me about a sinus wash that will kill bacteria.
you need

distilled water
sea salt
liquid chlorophyll and colloidal silver from the health food store.
in a glass mix 1/4 cup water with a pinch of salt and heat to body temperature.
add 5 drops each silver and chlorophyll and mix.
using a large dropper (like one used for infant medication) drop 2 full droppersfull into one side of the nose while laying down.
Turn the head and let it drain out the other nostril. Be sure to have paper towels handy. or just use a neti pot, I like this better.
The silver kills the bacteria and there are several hundred kind that can live in the sinus cavities and anti biotics don't get rid of them all.
Do this twice a day for a week, mixing up the mixture fresh each time.
Then do it once a week for maintenance.
There is nothing in this that will hurt you, and it cured me.
I do not have to take claritin, or antibiotics anymore.
best wishes

If you have a bulb syringe around the house, try irrigating your sinuses with warm salt water. You can google "sinus irrigations" and get instructions on how to do it. Also, gargle with a combination of warm salt water, hydrogen peroxide, and an antibacterial mouthwash (in equal parts). This will help break up the mucus and any infection on the back of your throat that is resulting from the drainage. Put warm compresses over your sinuses to help relieve the pressure. Humidifying the room is also a great idea, as is standing over boiling water and breathing in the steam.

But if you start seeing any swelling in your face... especially if it is moving towards your eye, GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. That is a life-threatening sign.

Good lord...I feel so bad for you that you don't have insurance.

Isn't there some kind of a low cost clinic for people w/o insurance somewhere? (I live in Canada, we are always covered). As far as I know, it won't go away without antibiotics. There are tons of people without insurance, a visit shouldn't' cost that much...but anyway.....you must be feeling more than miserable! I feel so sad for you! (not that that helps you at all!!)

You can do a nose bath. So gross, but you get room temp/a bit warm water and a bit of salt in a glass measuring cup with that little spout on the end (hard to explain) and you lean your head over the sink, turning your head upwards to the side, hold one nostril completely shut with your finger, then put the water in the open nostril by pouring and sniffing the water up and sniff up and then let your finger go on the closed nostril and sniff out that side while you hold the nostril you just sniffed, closed. The warm salty water can help heal your infection. (be sure and bleach your sink out afterwards.)

Plus warm salty water for your throat...that does help.

Steam for your chest, yes.

Tons of fluids.

Tylenol.

I doubt very much that you have dry mustard...but an awesome ready (mustard powder is only a few dollars). It's also gross, but it works!! Get an old towel or rag, mix a paste of mustard powder and water, spread it all over the towel..the towel will be going on your chest. So make a spread about the size of a large pancake...then fold the towel over top to cover it up. If you have a microwave...put towel in micro until it is comfortably warm. Do it a minute at a time. If no micro..then lay towel on rack at 200F and keep careful eye on it. Take it out when it is comfortably warm. Put on your chest for as long as possible. It will STINK...it's an old fashioned remedy but it really, really works wonders! If you can't get to the store, can you ask someone to get it for you? I know it sounds sillly, but it's amazing.

Sudafed won't work. You should have an antihistamine in the medicine. That will help dry you up. Get a sinus/allergy med from store and make sure it has antihistamine in it.

That is all I know to help. Good luck to you!!!!!!!!!!!!

IF you have any lemon or any citrus fruit, make yourself a juice.

You need a lot of vitamin C to boost your immune system. So take 1000 mg or 1 gram of vitamin C a day till the symptoms disappear.

Hope you get well soon.

Prescription meds: Anti-biotic, if that's what the doctor says is needed.

Pricier OTC stuff: Mucinex to thin out the gunk in there. A minor expectorant may not be noticeable in getting that mucus away.

Cheap meds: Saline water, whatever brand.

Cheap home stuff: hot shower, humidifier, hot tea.

if its a true infection, no herbal or over the counter medication is going to work. You have to use an anti-biotic to get rid of the infection.

If its not an infection, then its just a cold, and deal with it.
