Q&A: sinus infection?
Question by lady T: sinus infection?
I am getting a sinus infection. AGAIN Does anyone know an herbal remedy? Are there any herbs with antibacterial properties? I hate taking prescription antibiotics because they give me other problems.

Probiotics – like acidophilus can help. Yogurt can help. Drink lots of water – it helps wash out bacteria. Cinnamon and oregano have anti bacterial properties, but I haven’t heard of them being used for sinus infections.

go into any herbal store and they’ll help you.
I don’t know of any herbal solutions, but I have heard of people flushing out their sinuses with a saline solution. My friend says that it was even on Oprah. You may also want to look into increasing your intake of vitamin C. Humidifier might also help. Hope you feel better!
There is one that I have used for a while. You can get it at the pharmacy..It is called NeliMed. It is a saline irrigation.which cleans your sinuses and gets the phlegm out.
It is also a good idea to find out if you have any food sensitivities. I had a blood test and the doctor told me I had high sensitivity to eggs mostly the white..chicken..white bread and yeast..oysters..and a few other things..when I stopped eating the foods I was sensitive to my…infectons diminished..It takes a couple of months..
It is not a good idea to take antibiotics..that actually prolongs them in the long run..
You can also breathe the seasoning…thyme…boil water with a little salt..while it is boiling..put a teaspoon of thyme in it..breathe it for about 8 minutes…and it opens your sinuses..it is like menthol..
Also drink a glass of orange juice every morning..
On Opray a couple of weeks ago Dr. Oz was on and the had a thing called a sinus port which is just like a saline solution except it washs out the sinuses and you don’t get sinus infections again. Our Pharmacy ran out so I’ll check at wal-mart some time next wk.
Saline solution works wonders, I had to use it after I had surgery. It is two cups hot (not boiling) water, a table spoon of salt, and a pinch of baking soda. Use a baby nasal thing (you can find them at Wal-Mart for like a buck, and then lean your head over the sink (parallel) and put the bulb up your nose and wash as needed.
The ony things that really helped me was when my Dr. told me about a sinus wash that will kill bacteria.
you need
distilled water
sea salt
liquid chlorophyll and colloidal silver from the health food store.
in a glass mix 1/4 cup water with a pinch of salt and heat to body temperature.
add 5 drops each silver and chlorophyll and mix.
using a large dropper (like one used for infant medication) drop 2 full droppersfull into one side of the nose while laying down.
Turn the head and let it drain out the other nostril. Be sure to have paper towels handy.
The silver kills the bacteria and there are several hundred kind that can live in the sinus cavities and anti biotics don’t get rid of them all.
Do this twice a day for a week, mixing up the mixture fresh each time.
Then do it once a week for maintenance.
There is nothing in this that will hurt you, and it cured me.
I do not have to take claritin, or antibiotics anymore.
best wishes
