Question by Amber: Sinus Infection, Natural ways to lesson the pain?
OKay, this isn’t for me but for a my boyfriend who had surgery a week ago on his eye because he has glaucoma and had to relieve the pressure in his .eye well now he has a sinus infection (due to his eye drops). Yes he already went to the hospital got loads of medicine, for it but it doesn’t seem to be working. I am using this as a last resort, because he seems to be in pain and it hurts me to see him in that kind of pain. Well i just need any GOOD suggestions on how to make the pain lessen so he can sleep easily. I don’t want him to spend alot of money on something, that’s why I am asking for natural ways. I would really appericiate if you gave me some ideas.
Oh yeah I don’t want anything to higher the pressure in his eye either…The goal is trying to keep the pressure level down.
No, no i said it was the eye drops that were causing it. yes I know its sinus he went to the doctors already. I can’t really say “stop taking those eye drops” because they are for his eye and I’m not his mother. well anyway he said he is going to try something else tomorrow different meds so how it works out.
I hate this, it just puts his emotions to the limit mine too..
Btw he says he tried all of that and his on claritin x or something like that, and he has antibotics.
When you are faced with a serious sinus problem it can be a real pain In the face literally.
I too have experienced the stuffy nose, the headaces and the pressure pain and it can Really detract from the quality of your life
You can of course treat sinus issues medically with steroid sprays and operations etc But there are natural treatments also which may prove beneficial .
Heres a few options that are out there at the moment that might help
1)Herbal remedies Herbal remedies can help by stimulating your immune system to fight the sinus infection and by acting on the swollen Nasal passages and sinus passages to reduce inflammation. Eucalyptis, peppermint and ginger are all known to help reduce inflamation and improve a sinus condition while Echinacea, lemon balm and vitimin c can help with the infection. Some herbal remedies can interact with regular medications so its a good idea to consult with your doctor before taking herbal remedies.
2)Accupunture can also be used to treat sinus. Accupunture is an ancient chinese treatment system where meridian lines or energy lines are stimulated in the body to effect healing in a specific area. It aims to bring balance back to the body and the sinuses.
3)Like every illness and physical issue I believe there is always an emotional root cause. Its has been said that sinus issues are related to a problem with fully integrating and feeling all emotions causing problems with the 4th chakra. It has also been mentioned that sinus sufferers tend to be unforgiving and perfectionisic. If you are blocking something in your life or you are blocking a truth inside yourself addressing these issues and the other emotional causes might help heal you issues.

Americans are said to spend more than billion each year on health care costs related to sinus treatment & infection of sinuses.
This money goes mainly towards doctors’ consultation fees and the cost of antibiotics and other medications.
Sinus sufferers will know that antibiotics often help treat the sinus infection, however commonly used antibiotics such as penicillin, erythromycin and tetracyclineantibiotics are only effective against certain types of bacteria and are becoming increasingly ineffective as more and more bacteria become antibiotic resistant.
Therefore alternative sinus treatments need to be explored for this debilitating disease.

The pain from a sinus migraine can make you miserable but there are a couple of really easy tricks you can do to ease your suffering. I’ve found that my sinus infections can be relieved with two simple methods.
The main trigger for many headaches is dehydration. An easy way to rehydrate without drinking tons of water is to get
the water directly in to your face. A doctor told a family member of mine that the military has started issuing saline nasal sprays to its forces. I can’t vouch for the accuracy of that, but this family member of mine bought an over the counter nasal spray and used it when she felt a headache coming on. It worked like a charm for her. And it works fast. Apparently your mucous membranes can absorb water almost instantly, bypassing the need to ingest water through drinking.
Snorting water doesn’t always cure every headache I have but it definitely does ease the pain of my sinus migraines. Even if I don’t have access to nasal spray at all times I can usually find some warm water to, um, snort up my nose. That may not sound so pleasant to you, but its better than having a headache. Also, if you have can take a hot shower to steam open your sinuses and maybe snort some water in the process you will find that your sinus migraine pain may be greatly relieved.
The other trick I use to relieve a sinus migraine is to juice a few specific raw fruits and vegetables. I use an electric juicer (about or from a kitchen store) to juice a half or whole lemon, a two inch chunk of fresh ginger, and an apple or an orange to add some sweetness to the mix. The lemon will break up and drain any mucous in your sinuses and the ginger will make you feel like the rest is being burned out with a blast of spicy freshness. This may not sound too tasty but the benefits are undeniable. The more lemon and ginger you use the better. And that’s where the apples or oranges come in. You will definitely want a sweet flavor balance until you get used to it.

If you’re one of the millions of sinus sufferers, you know the debilitating effects this condition can bring.

While the above conditions can make anyone’s life a misery, the good news is that sinus conditions can be dramatically alleviated if not permanently reversed.
Sinusitis can be caused by allergens, cold viruses, bacterial or fungal infections, smoking, nasal polyps, nasal septum deviation and severe acid reflux.
What is Sinusitis
Sinusitis is inflammation of the facial cavities around your nose, those above the eyes, behind the nose, on either side of the top of the nose, and those areas beneath the eyes in the cheek area.
The mucus that is created then drains through the small openings in your nose BUT if the openings are blocked & the sinus cavities get bunged up with mucus (which also gets infected by bacteria), the result will be that all too familiar pain & infection which sinus sufferers know well.

The question however, is how are the above sinus treatment objectives reached.
Well one simple natural & effective remedy to rid yourself of the sinus infection, is by inhaling water vapor, i.e. steam.
Doing this simple thing a couple of times a day, for about 5 minutes at a time, can be bring significant relief from the sinusitis condition.
This is because inhaling steam or vapor from hot water will clear the sinus and nasal cavities, which is teh sinus sufferer’s main objective.
What is a Healthy Sinusitis System
For the sinus system to be healthy the mucus in your sinuses needs to be pushed out of the nose by cilia – these are tiny hairs that beat at 16 strokes each second to propel mucus & bacteria out of the respiratory tract before infection can set in.
It also cleans the air you breathe, moistens your sinuses, then slides down the back of your throat to your stomach, where acid destroys the mucus and trapped bacteria.
In conclusion, rather than let your life be ruined by the effects of sinus practice the above sinus treatment every day and you will get significant relief from your sinus infection & pain.
