Question by Arimarie: Horrible Sinus Infection…Please HELP!?
I have what is probably the worst sinus infection of my life. I have no insurance so I can’t go to the Doctors, and I have no car, so I have to find a helpful remedy here in my own home. Here’s the symptoms:

Headache
Stuffy Nose
Sore Throat
Ringing in Ears
Nausea
Runny Nose (I know that contradictory – my nose is stuffed but I can feel the mucus running down my throat…nice picture huh?)

Thanks! and again, please remember I can’t go anywhere so please don’t suggest wierd herbal crap that a NORMAL person doesn’t stock in their home.
I do have Sudafed, but it hasn’t done squat…I don’t have any chicken soup…but I do have Ramen..I’m poor…lol. Thanks for the steam idea though, I think I will definitly try that!

Rest if you feel really lousy. Lots and LOTS of liquids. Do you have chicken soup? Make that. Steam, use a pot of boiling water on the stove for putting moisture in the air. Did I say liquids? Force them. Make yourself drink something every half or hour. Gargle with warm salt water for your sore throat. By the way sinus infections don’t always need antibiotics. Take aspirin or tylenol, whatever you have for your headache. If you have orange juice drink that. Hope you feel better soon.

I need suggestions. Home remedies, over the counter meds, herbal remedies, websites- anything. I’m desperate!
Usually I take some Sudafed non-drying sinus, and I’m fine within a day or 2. But this infection won’t go away; it started on the 28th, and is still present!
Description of symptoms:
No sinus pressure pain, or bad headache. Just a slight burning/itching sensation in nose, and lots of mucus. I’m having to blow my nose about every 10-15 mins. And nose hurts when I blow it. The mucus was bright green or yellow, and thick, but now is thinner, and darker green.
Please anyone with real suggestions that have worked for them, are welcome to respond.

You do have an infection and no OTC remedy will work. If you go to the doc your prescription should only be a little bit of money. You really need to go because there is no OTC remedy. An infection calls for antibiotics to kill the bacteria.

Hi,, I have had horrible sinus problems for over a week. It started when i turned the heat on for the first time. I have been running the humidifier at night and all day, (in fact, i burnt it out) since my humidity droped to 35%!! when i turned the heat on.. so, i have been keeping humidity over 45% during the day, and 50-70% in my room at night.

But, even still, the sinus headaches, at night. Even if im out, or where ever I am, i get them. I got the worst one last night i couldnt sleep.

Ive been taking herbal allergy pills, which help, ive been doing saline spray in my sinuses to keep it moisturized and clean, i dont have much congestion, just PRESSURE!! OUCH!!

Ive never had this so bad, and it hurts in my eyes, nose face, etc.

Please help!!

I always use a somewhat hot compress over my face, especially over my eyes……it’s very soothing.

edit to queen…mites. Some of these was from her inviting me to her appartment to visit where she smoked. Also a neighbor drove me to look at my totaled car and smoked in car. But I decided to write her a note that I could not come into her apartment as I had extreme allergy to cigarette smoke. She has a habit of leaving her door open. Also there are gaps in the door where one can see the hall light through the door edges, But she had her door shuit for 5 weeks due to a broken hall heater and gap under entry door makig the hall too cold and she left her door open the day after I wrote the note for 16 hours and several times throughout the day, I strongly smelled smoke inside my apartment though I don’t smoke..this is the first time I ever smelled it and I feel this neighbor–the same one who badmouths other neighbors she was friends with and was spread false rumors that I was sleeping with my brother–is passive aggressive and not to be trusted. Both my son and I strongly
feel she left her door open deliberately in order to get bad at me for writing the note. She seems a little off mentally and she feels in some competition decorating the door and building with me..it is the strangest thing..she told me she as jealous of how good my door looked..every-time I add some holiday feature to the outer areas, she immediately goes there and alters my work adding to it like she is trying to one up me..I used to decorate the building and clean the hall as no-one else did and when she moved in she began obsessing over the hallway..putting furniture there and waxing it every week and yelling at neighbors who messed up the floor. She has appointed herself in charge and thinks I am invading her territory or something..I am certain she deliberating was standing by the door smoking and maybe even standing by my door and blowing it toward the door in order to make some kind of statement. We have a no smoking in pubic places law here and no smoking is permitted in
hall and entry way..but her smoke and all the minute allergens in it or likely sticking to the curtains, door wreathes and such. I may pursue help by using the Americans with disabilities act and the federal fair housing act and seek HUD’s position on multi-family units in order to try to get her to close her door when smoking as I might have some legal footing. Apartment management is told by experts to not have smoking areas in places where smoke wafts into halls and doorways so I may be able to do something on this –a complaint or something but she will know it was me who complained and I fear retribution as she got 2 residents kicked out in the year she has been here and makes statements like you don’t want to mess with me as I am smart..to intimidate I feel. Gosh, I wish I could move..I don’t want to cross this person…but my symptoms are getting worst lately. I was thinking of an air cleaner myself as bad timing as no money need to buy a car from a recent wreck and other
expenses (lost several bags of Christmas presents and my only winter coat/and my clothes cut off me by fireman and money tight as I am disabled and on fixed income

Hi Janie

I have the same problem as you, but I also have tearing and burning eyes when exposed to cigarette smoke.
Go to your Dr. and tell him about it and he will be able to give you a nasal steroidal med for it and it will help with the symptoms, but I don’t know of any herbal remedies for this, the only other thing is to not e around the person or persons when they are smoking.

Probiotics – like acidophilus can help. Yogurt can help. Drink lots of water – it helps wash out bacteria. Cinnamon and oregano have anti bacterial properties, but I haven’t heard of them being used for sinus infections.

My husband has a Sinus Infection. He gets them all the time.
This time around he has no hearing in his left Ear and very little in his right ear. So I was reading that this is one of the lots of things sinus infection can cause.
We are natural/ herbal people. We take only all natural things and herbs. does anyone know of anything that might help his ears open, and something to help him natural fight this sinus infection.
We dont like the antibotics and horrible meds the prescribe at the docs and stuff.

Get him to drink a lot of water. This will help drain the sinuses a bit.
You should not rule out prescribed medication for sinus problems, as some are very effective against what can be a very nasty and uncomfortable condition.
Antibiotics will not cure sinusitis but will get rid of any secondary infection that it can cause.
There are very effective nasal sprays that your doctor can prescribe that open up the sinuses and allow them to drain. I am a long term sinus sufferer and would hate to be without access to nasal spray as nothing much seems to work for me otherwise.
