Question by stiffkittens: Sinuses and clogged ears?
I bought some “Simple Saline” solution that someone recommended here and sprayed some in my nostril while turning my head sideways over the sink. After I felt it go through my sinus and into my throat, I gently blew my nose and my ears started make that “pressure noise”. It was like a suction kind of sound. I could feel the congestion. I’m assuming this is good and that my sinuses are causing my ears to become super congested. My “ear congestion” seems to cause me to lose my balance or equilibrium. I am going to boil a pot of water next and breath in the steam for 10 minutes. Like someone else mentioned. I also ordered a Neti-pot from Amazon and a sinus pillow. I hope some of this works. I also have a CT scan scheduled for January to hopefully get a referral to an ENT specialist. I can’t breathe, my sinuses are killing me. The biggest problem, I can see from my sinuses or Chronic Sinusitus as my doctor thinks I have is the quality of my sleep. My sleep has been horrible for years.

Have you had any emotional changes in your life lately? For example have you had any other physical problem or illness that has stressed you out, wither major or something simple? You are dealing with either a physical or a mental problem that is causing this sensitivity. You have to just start eliminating the most obvious and working down until you hit on it.
I am not exactly sure what your question is, as you did a pretty good job of explaining your situation. The only thing I have to add is that before washing your sinuses out with normal saline, I suggest you talk to your doctor about this. A few years ago the AMA did not recommend adults doing that, but since then have relaxed the rule somewhat. However, in some instances damage can be done, so with as much trouble as you already are having, I think I would get the all clear from your doc first.
Also, your ear problem is caused from a difference in pressure on the 2 sides of the ear drum. You might be a good candidate for tubes in your ears. Again, until a few years ago tubes were only used in children, but that has also changed. I am a big advocate of tubes. When my son was just a toddler, he was constantly sick with sinus infections and had pneumonia 3 times in a 18 month span. This was in the early 1980′s when tubes were relatively new. My wife and I were not all that excited about puncturing the child’s eardrums. The ENT that explained the procedure and the advantages of it was the same man that invented the instrument used to insert the tubes, the Duberstein tool. I figured the guy must be pretty smart and know his stuff, being a pioneer in the field. We allowed him to put the tubes in and remove his adenoids. It was almost a miracle, as he never had another sinus infection again after that!
Maybe you could have the same outcome. Good luck to you and Merry Christmas!
